Cake Pop Fail

Tomorrow is the end of my 3rd week on Internal Medicine! I have spent these last three weeks with the same group of 3 residents. Sadly, tomorrow all of the residents are done with their first block of of the year and will be moving on to new services. So, to show my appreciation, I thought I would make some cupcakes. THEN, I got a brilliant idea. Whats better than cupcakes? CAKE POPS! Of course, I have never made cake pops...but how hard could they be?

Here is my journey towards making the most perfect cake pops.

Step 1: Get all of your supplies ready!

Step 2: Bake the perfect cake.

Step 3: Crumble up the perfect cake and mix with frosting. Put them in a circular dish so that they form cake-ball structures.

Step 4: Decorate by putting a which chocolate coat around the cake pop and decorate with colored frosting.

The result of all of this hard work (3 hours worth of baking):

Tada!!

Peanut Butter Blossom, Chocolate Chip, and Gingerbread Cookies

Lemon Poppyseed Muffins with Lemon Glaze and Sliced Almonds

Pineapple Upside Down Mini-cakes

Peanut Butter Rice Crispy Treats (I still need to drizzle chocolate on top!)

Santa Hat Brownie!

Raindeer Brownie!

Christmas Mouse!

Peanut Butter Chocolates AND Turtle Candies

Star Cookies

Snow Man Cookie w/ Home made frosting that I made from scratch!!!!

Besides all of these yummy treats, we also made English Toffee, Kahluah Cheese Cake, and Carrot Cake! Yummmmm

Kailyne's Cake Shop/Mother's Day

I LOVE TO BAKE!

May is always the month in my family with the most celebrations. We have only just completed the first week of May and there have already been two cake-making days. My step dad Sam celebrated his 51st birthday on May 2. (According to the cake, I know it looks like he turned 501, but I didn't have the right candles...haha) For his cake, I baked him a two-layered lemon cake with lemon frosting filling. He LOVES to fish, so I went with that theme.

Today is Mother's Day. (Happy Mother's Day, Mom!) So, I baked my second cake of May: a Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. I tried my first Pineapple Upside-Down Cake a few months ago and have been wanting to try to make one. So, today was the day! I know the picture doesn't make it look to appetizing, but it was YUMMY!

If medicine doesn't work out, maybe I can own a cake shop. Now, I just need to learn how to make a cake that doesn't come from a box! :D
